Blau-Weiss Linz plans immediate promotion to the Bundesliga. After relegation to the second division, season ticket holders are called upon to renew their subscriptions. "Just now" must love for the club be proven, as it is said somewhat defiantly. The fan base understands the message, more than 2,000 annual tickets have already been sold. The Bundesliga adventure lasted just three seasons, where in the newly built arena on the Danube shore the trees had grown into the sky. In the 2024/25 season, Blau-Weiss was allowed to participate in the master-play-off. But on the high flight followed this year's total collapse, relegation included. "We have also conducted an extensive and thorough analysis of the past season with external experts", says CEO Christoph Peschek (42). The conclusions are to flow into the personnel and content-related settings, which are to be implemented immediately. Three decisions have already been made: Coach Michael Köllner (56) remains, as does sports director Christoph Schösswendter (37). He is to be supported by Mauricio Zoccola (56) for scouting and team planning, who is moving from TSV Hartberg to Linz. With this, clarity has been created earlier and earlier than in the previous year. There, the origin of the mess is to be located. Promoter Gerald Scheiblehner (49) was held back for months on contract extension, so he moved to Grashoppers Zurich. As a result, the club was on the verge of the season start without a head coach. Mitja Mörec (43) was quickly hired from the second division club Favoritner AC and fired after just over half a year. Köllner was supposed to fix it. But even with him, the class retention failed, his points average of 1.13 was only slightly better than Mörec's 1.06. "Köllner has done very good work with the team and fits in with us in terms of character", explains Peschek why the German is to direct the immediate promotion. But this has not been achieved by any relegation team so far. SV Ried and Austria Lustenau have only achieved it in their second attempt, Admira Wacker and St. Pölten have not yet done so. Austria Klagenfurt has retired to the insignificance of the third division after insolvency. "The wish is immediate", sketches Chairman Johann Kalliauer the promotion plan, relativizing the ambitions but immediately: "As quickly as possible." With all optimism, realism is to be applied. There are the finances, in the second division, the TV money does not flow as generously as in the Bundesliga. "It's already a big hole", knows Kalliauer. The more pleasant it is that the sponsors are retained in the same amount. How much is to be cut back, Peschek does not want to reveal out of competition reasons. The goal is to assemble a competitive team and double each position. "Everything to return to the Bundesliga", is the motto according to Peschek. Because there belongs Blau-Weiss.
