Blau-Weiss Linz signs Nico Grimbs as new offensive player. The 22-year-old German-Austrian switches to Linz for free from German third-division club Schweinfurt. Grimbs was trained in the youth academy of SpVgg Greuther Fürth and has already gained experience in Austrian professional football. During a loan to Floridsdorfer AC in the 2023/24 season, he played 28 competitive games in the ADMIRAL 2nd league. Blau-Weiss sports director Christoph Schößwendter is looking forward to the new signing: With Nico Grimbs, we are gaining an exciting and flexible offensive player. His technical skills, his movements between the lines and his finishing quality will give our game additional options. We are very pleased that Nico has decided to join us and are convinced that he will develop very well with us. Coach Michael Köllner is also convinced of the 22-year-old: One focus of our squad planning for the upcoming season is also on young, developable players. Nico has developed continuously over the past few years and we don't see this development as completed. Köllner further: With Nico, we are gaining a player who already has some experience in the 2nd league in Austria and has taken his next step in the German 3rd league last year. Nico's strengths lie in his unconditional commitment on the pitch, in his character and especially in the final third. He can be used both in the center and in the spaces behind. Additionally, he has Austrian citizenship, a factor that should not be underestimated with regard to the ÖFB regulations. Nico Grimbs' contract runs until 2027 with an option for an additional year. Blau-Weiss Linz is continuing to shape its squad for the mission of promotion. After the arrival of Filip Ristanic, the team announces the signing of another offensive player. The Upper Austrians are confident that they can take an important step towards promotion with Grimbs. The fans of Blau-Weiss Linz are looking forward to the new offensive player and hope for a successful season.
